How to Get to El Nido, Palawan

El Nido, Palawan

El Nido, Palawan is a favorite destination in the Philippines among both local and foreign tourists. People love it for its extremely beautiful beaches, its extraordinary natural splendor, and its amazing ecosystem. El Nido, however, is not very easy to get to. You can reach El Nido in these 2 ways:

By Air/ Land

There used to be a direct flight from the capital city of Manila to El Nido's local airport via ITI Airlines, however that flight route has been cancelled and the airline itself has appeared to have gone out of business. So the only way to get to El Nido is to fly from Manila to Puerto Princesa Airport (PPS) in Central Palawan, and then travel about 220 kilometers of highway, going to El Nido via a van, bus, jeep or private vehicle.

Nearly every Philippine-based airline flies to Puerto Princessa from Manila or Cebu, including Cebu Pacific, PAL Express, and Air Asia. The flight itself is no more than one hour, but the commute from Puerto Princessa to El Nido can be 5 to 8 hours, depending on traffic and the number of stopovers.

By Sea

Ferries and other sea vessels operated by Atienza Shipping Lines and 2GO Travel can be taken in navigating towards El Nido from Manila. If your point of origin is in Coron, you may take any of several outrigger boats that go to this paradise island 4 to 5 times per week. The trip, however, may take as long as 10 hours from Coron.

Although not so simple to get to, nearly all tourists agree that it was worth whatever route they had to take to get there!
